From Start to Finish
What To Expect
You’ll start by meeting your guide, getting geared up, and going through a short safety rundown. Then we head to the river, where you’ll spend a few hours paddling through exciting but manageable rapids, with breaks to float, take in the views, and maybe even spot some wildlife.
The pace is steady but never rushed. We keep things relaxed, make sure everyone’s comfortable, and adjust based on the group. At the end, we wrap things up with a guide-prepared meal by the river, share some photos, and get you back with time to enjoy the rest of your day.

Kennebec River Trip

The Kennebec River whitewater rafting trip rises right next door in Moosehead Lake and hurtles over 150 miles toward the ocean, through some of Maine’s most spectacular whitewater, scenery and wildlife.

Penobscot River - Ideal thrill ride

DEAD RIVER - blood-pumping action
The Dead River has six scheduled high water release dates that are sure to get your blood pumping. Since the Dead River only releases a few times a year for whitewater rafting, the level of whitewater released changes the rafting experience and level of excitement from raft trip to raft trip.

Canada Falls - for adrenaline seekers
Canada Falls is a unique whitewater rafting trip, with scheduled releases on Saturday’s in July and August. We raft this river twice, so you will experience double the class V’s, double the thrill, and double the excitement. Saturday whitewater rafting on Canada Falls fills up fast, so give us a call to reserve your next thrill of a lifetime.

Rafting FAQs
What Equipment is Included?
Northeast Whitewater provides all the equipment you need for your rafting trip, including state-of-the-art self-bailing rafts, Type V lifejackets, paddles, helmets and safety equipment. Wetsuits are available at an additional cost and are required on some whitewater rafting trips on the Kennebec River.
What Other Fees Are Included In Our Trip?
A user fee of $7.00 to cover road access to the Kennebec River and a State of Maine head fee is added to each whitewater rafting guest. Our famous river lunch is included in your adventure as well.
Will There Be Photos Available From Our Trip?
Northeast Whitewater screens a photo slideshow of the day’s whitewater rafting adventure (available for purchase). Video is available on any whitewater rafting trip at an additional cost and must be requested in advance.
Do You Provide Personalized Trips?
We pride ourselves on small, personalized trips. Northeast Whitewater requires a minimum of eight participants on guided Kennebec River whitewater rafting trips. If your party is less, you can join an existing whitewater rafting trip.
Can I see wildlife along the River?
Absolutely! Every river trip offers our guests tons of opportunities to see wildlife such as eagles, moose, and more! It’s especially exciting to see a moose when you’ve sat down for your riverside lunch!
